VALVE CELL TECHNICIAN


Position Summary

The Valve Cell Technician is responsible for manually operating machines and repairing reciprocating compressor valves, packing cases, unloaders, etc., while adhering to the highest tolerances in an accurate and timely manner.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety and professionalism.
  • Able to operate lathes, mills, grinders and lapping tables from part set up to job completion.
  • Capable of using and reading: outside and inside micrometers, vernier calipers, vernier height and depth gauges.
  • Studies blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as best method and sequence of operations needed to fabricate parts.
  • Selects appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used for machining work.
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Fabricates and manufactures various parts using drawings or sample parts.
  • Measures, examines and tests completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Create and maintain a team focused work environment.
  • Additional duties include mechanic work on various reciprocating compressor components.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Certifications/Skills:
  • Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot reciprocating compressor components: valves, packing cases, unloaders, etc.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily tasks.
Minimum Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in machining or related field.

Physical Requirements:
  • Exerts up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Regular on-time physical attendance is required.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time and throughout the day in a machine shop environment.
  • Duties require verbal communication abilities, visual acuity, accuracy in reading data, and manual coordination and dexterity in handling items and operation of equipment.
